Galactica Battlebuddies: Series 1

I give you: Series 1 of the Galactica Battlebuddies!! (No, they're not real toys. Yes, I am a geek.) :)

Click for larger version:

Series 2 will probably include Starbuck ("Lay Down Your Burdens" pt. 2 variant), Tigh, Helo, Chief, Gaeta, Dualla, Cally, Cain, and maybe a couple of the other cylons. I might change my mind though. So many dang characters to choose from!

Sanity Update

Just wanted to give a quick update. I know there are a lot of you reading this that are waiting on commissions or sketch cards. I'm sorry it's taking a little longer than normal - I'm getting to 'em as soon as I can. In the past few weeks (thanks to the success of the LOTR cards) I've been getting quite a few commissions and sketch card orders, and the emails keep comin' (not that I'm complaining, but, man, this stuff piles up!). So be patient with me :)

In case you're wondering what the status is on my other personal projects, like "Drekodinn," well.. I don't have any time to even think about that stuff lately. Aside from my day job and about six hours of sleep per night, my life is pretty much commissions and cards right now. But I'm really gonna try to make some time for personal art stuff (I really reeaaally wanna get something done in time for SDCC) and of course I need to find more time for the girlfriend and social life and those other basic human needs.. heh

Anyway, that's what going on with me. My next show will be the Minnesota MicroCon, which is a smaller, one day show on April 30th. It'll be fun, and I'll be selling prints and whatever else. Not sure how many sketch cards I'll be able to do (if any), but I'll try to bring some predrawn stuff. You can always email me beforehand if you want an original drawing or card or somethin'.

Talk to you soon -

Few more cards

I drew these at the show this weekend -- Some of 'em are still available, so if you see one you're interested in, send me an email (grantgould at hotmail.com) :) (PS - The 1st Maul one, the Legolas, and the Aragorn are now spoken for)

And these are available still too:

Color personal cards are $30 -- Drop me a line if you want any of these :)

Chainmail Leia

I received this email and photo yesterday -- It was just too cool & unique not to share:

I thought you might find this interesting. I really liked your drawing of Princess Leia. My boyfriend's been teaching me how to make chainmail. So I made your picture of Princess Leia out of chainmail. This project took me about a month, and there are approximately 6500 rings in it. Hope you like it :)
Fiona

Needless to say, I'm amazed and flattered, Fiona! Thanks for sending me the photo too. I can honestly say I never thought anyone would make chainmail art out of one of my drawings. LOL :)

Midwest Card Show Report

I returned from the Midwest Trading Card Show yesterday -- It was a really small show, but still fun -- I enjoyed hanging out with my artist pal Cynthia Cummens, and seeing Keith & Chris again, and it was really cool to meet some of you other guys that have been following my blog. I'm glad you came out to see me and buy some stuff :)

Here's a shot of the room -- Cynthia and I were sort of in the middle there, with dealers all around us, selling their nonsport card goodness:

Me:

Cynthia:

At least we had one stormtrooper show up:

Cynthia and I did a card trade -- Here's the Shaak Ti I did for her:

And here's the awesome Starbuck card she did for me:

From left to right: Keith (of starwarssketchcards.com fame), Cynthia, and Chris (aka Marleyeds, of lotrsketchcards.com fame):

I colored a clonetrooper "Sith" card for Chris:

And here's Chris hanging out behind our tables -- It was pretty slow on Sunday, so we just chatted about cards and other nerdly stuff:

And finally -- here's an IG-88 card I did for Checkmark :) It was cool meetin' you, man!

Ah yes, I almost forgot -- I also did a Sawyer card for "Hippiejewel" -- My first official LOST card ever! :)
She was nice enough to send me a scan: so check it out

And I guess that's all I got for ya. I'll spare you the painful details of my eleven-hour drive home in the blizzard that was blanketing the midwest. Aaargh, that was not fun. heh :)

Card Fever!! Aragorn & others

Hi, folks -- I have a new Lord of the Rings: Evolution card up on ebay, and I hope you'll go check it out. :) Here's a link to the auction!

Also, this weekend I'll be at the Midwest Nonsport Trading Card Show, so here's a peek at some of the pre-drawn sketch cards I'll be bringing to sell:

And that's about it for now --
I'll be away from the internet for most of the weekend, but I'll be back next week with some regular ol' sketches and a report on the card show. :) Later!

Vargas-style Aayla

Just did this for fun last night -- I was in a pin-up kinda mood, so it's my rip off of Vargas, starring our favorite sexy blue Jedi, Aayla Secura :P

The Evolution Begins!

Topps' Lord of the Rings: Evolution cards are now in stores!! This is very exciting to me, because I'm a huge LOTR geek, and I was one of the sketch card artists on this set, which I'm sure you all knew already. :)

And the sketch cards are already popping up like crazy all over ebay -- it's really cool, and chaotic! I love it! A word to the wise though: if you're going after sketch cards, be sure to buy the Hobby boxes -- there are Hobby boxes and Retail boxes. Places like Target and Walmart carry the retail ones, and those have different inserts. Just be sure to look at the box/pack and see if it says "sketch card" anywhere on it. If it does, you're good to go! And you get one sketch for every 13 or 14 packs, so the odds are way better this time than they were for Star Wars. So good luck to all of you!! I know I, for one, will be spending way too much time on ebay this next week or two..

And I updated my LOTR card gallery, so if ya wanna see 'em, check out my site, or head over to lotrsketchcards.com!
