Ian Somerhalder

The members of an Ian Somerhalder fansite commissioned me to draw him -- it's on 9"x12" bristol board, done with brush pen and hand-colored with prismacolor markers. (If you'd like info on getting your own commission from me, click here.)

Avengers peekage

The Marvel Heroes: Complete Avengers card set comes out soon (I believe it ships around the last week of November). I drew 250 full-color cards for it -- Thought I'd post a few samples for ya:

I'm a little disappointed I didn't have more time to work on them.. Some of the other artists on the set really brought their A-game and created some mind-blowing cards, and I feel like I had too many things going on and was forced to blow through 'em at light speed.

In any case, if there's another Marvel set next year and they ask me back, I'll be doing everything I can to set aside a large chunk of time to devote to them. Now I know first-hand just how long it takes to draw and color 250 cards. :)

Live and learn, as always..
Talk to ya soon, people!

Update

Hey, everyone -- though I'd write up a quick update, let you know what's going on in my life. Things are busy. Juggling commissions, sketch cards, freelance gigs, the usual madness. I've also (foolishly) taken on the challenge of NaNoWriMo this month, which pretty much means I'm spending all of my time either drawing, sleeping, or writing. I officially have no social life now.. heh :) But it's something I've been wanting to do, and I'm really determined to finish it, and if I can pull it off I'll have a zombie book that I can shake in people's faces and say, "I wrote a damn zombie book!! Haah!!"

Anyway, I'm chipping away at the commission list - generally I've been trying to finish one every other day or so. If you're waiting on a commission or sketch card from me, or are worried I forgot about a deadline, send me an email at grantgould@hotmail.com and tell me which job you're wondering about. I'll be able to give you a pretty close time estimate as to when I'll be shipping it out for ya.

And I guess that's it. As always, contact me with questions, concerns, etc. And thanks again to everyone who's been great and supportive and bought stuff from me! :) I'll be back soon with some new art.

Galactica Trio

I took a break from work to draw s'more Battlestar art.. I had the bug!! Anyway, I've been dickin' around with it for hours now, and I need to get some sleep, so here it is. I gotta force myself to stop messing around with colors and stuff and just call it DONE. heh :) Hopefully I won't hate it when I wake up.

Captain America

-- versus Death Adder!!!

This is a commissioned piece I finished tonight. It's 11"x14", blue pencil, black Faber-Castell brush pen, and Prismacolor markers. Forgive the quality of the photo -- I took this with my digital camera, so it doesn't quite capture the same color and crispness of the actual drawing. Ah well :)

I had a lot of fun drawing this one. Hopefully now that the Avengers cards are about to hit stores, people will commission me to do more superhero pieces.
