2 Quick Things

First of all, I wanted to thank Terry & Peter Gould from the U.K. (no relation to me, as far as I know, heh) for emailing me this photo:

They're holding a few of the LOTR cards I created for the Topps Masterpieces set. They said they're big fans of my work, and I gotta tell ya, hearing and seeing stuff like this is extremely flattering and totally makes my day. Terry & Peter, you guys are awesome - thank you so much! :)

Second thing I wanted to share is that I was interviewed for Tosche Station, a Dutch Star Wars fansite. Most of you won't be able to read it, because everything was translated for the site (and I forgot to save the Q&A). Either way, huge thanks to them for showing interest in my work and asking for an interview! Be sure to check out the site - you can find my interview by clicking on "Grant Gould - Interview sectie" on the main page and then the link that says "hier."

THISisNOTaHOAX.com

The "Sasquatch" site has been updated and the Laws of Coolness demand that you go check it out immediately: www.thisisnotahoax.com

I'm lovin' the cover they went with!! (No, I didn't draw it - not sure who did actually - possibly Josh Howard.)

I'm in the process of coloring my pages this week, and then they're off to Josh & Viper! (I'm cuttin' it reeaal close to the deadline, but I'm gonna make it -- a photo finish, as they say.) I'll be really excited to see this thing come out in April. It's gonna be massive: 250 pages, over 30 creators... WORD.

New BSG Interview!

Just wanted to take a minute to pimp my Battlestar Galactica community: Battlestar-Blog.com

I had the honor of interviewing another BSG actor -- this time it was Leo Chiang, who you may recognize as "the big tattooed Asian Viper pilot." :) He's been a background character throughout the series, but he hasn't slipped by fans -- in fact, we want the damn writers to give him a bigger role! heh

And since we're talking BSG, remember: Sci Fi is replaying the entire first half of Season 3 on January 15th. And only a few short days later.. Season 3 continues on Sunday, January 21st!

Okay, that's enough pimpage from me. What can I say, I live for this show.

Red Riding Hood

I really loved this commission. He gave me free reign to do pretty much anything I wanted, just so long as it featured a "bad ass Little Red Riding Hood," and he wanted it colored in Photoshop. (Mike, I hope you feel it was money well spent. I had a friggin' blast on it.) :)

Reminder to blog land:
If you're interested in commissioning me, you can find info at grantgould.com/commissions.html. With convention season fast approaching, now's a good time to get your name on the list.

DeviantART & Jedi Lion

In my continuing effort to take over the internet, I started up a gallery at DeviantART. So check it out.

Totally unrelated note:
Here's a "Jedi Lion" commission I finished for someone today. It's actually a personal sketch card, so what you're seeing is much larger than the real deal. I just felt like posting it large & in charge.

Hoth Han & Maul

Since I'm reeling from post-holiday financial woes, I'm selling two brand-spankin'-new pieces of Star Wars art on eBay -- BOTH of them starting at only 99 CENTS!!

Here's a link to the auctions.

Caprica 'Buck pre-color

Here's a look at the original drawing for my Starbuck on Caprica pic. I used blue pencil and black brush pen, and from here it was scanned into Photoshop for coloring, and I drew the window background on a separate sheet.

I may throw this piece on eBay in the next few days, so if that happens I'll let ya know.

Available as a print.
Don't forget, season three continues on Sunday, January 21st. Wheee :)

The LOST Project!

Last month I had the honor of working on a project for LOST writer & executive producer Damon Lindelof (he and JJ Abrams had gotten copies of my LOST cast print back in September). So he contacted me and wanted a group picture of the show's Season Three writing team & producers as a secret holiday gift for the crew. I said, "Right on," and here's the end result:

1) On the far left, holding Eko's stick and sporting Desmond's key is JJ Abrams.
2) Right next him, wearing Sawyer's mismatched glasses, is Jack Bender.
3) In the red DriveShaft t-shirt is Jean Higgens.
4) Next to her in the white shirt is Jeff Pinkner.
5) In front of him, in the Empire shirt and holding "Carrie," is Damon Lindelof.
6) Next to Damon, sporting a Dharma logo shirt, is Carlton Cuse.
7) The woman in the blue next to Carlton is Christina Kim.
8) Drew Goddard is in back giving us the orange peel Locke smile.
9) Next to Drew, wearing an Apollo candybar shirt, is Stephen Williams.
10) Chattin' on his cell phone, we have Bryan Burk.
11) Next to him, holding a couple familiar comic books, is show newcomer Brian K. Vaughan.
12) In the front row, on the left we have Adam Horowitz, sporting a fish biscuit polo.
13) Next to him with the doomsday countdown clock symbols is Eddy Kitsis.
14) And last but not least, Liz Sarnoff, who's got a toy plane and a familiar lookin' foot...

Since I'd never seen any of these people in person, there were a lot of changes and edits along the way to try and make them all look a little more like themselves. I drew each person separately, then scanned 'em in and assembled & colored the whole thing in Photoshop. I had a few more hidden little nuggets in there too - LOST easter eggs - but we ended up shuffling around some stuff like the polar bear, etc., so a few of my (brilliant and clever) ideas had to go. Ah well, as long as they dug the end result (which I hear they did), I'm happy. :)

If anyone reading this is interested in commissioning me for work -- whether it's something larger like this LOST pic, or just a single character drawing -- you can find info by going to GrantGould.com and clicking on "commissions," or you can always drop me an email too - grantgould at hotmail.com.
